HPS is a unique type of digital magazine.
Home & Project Studio is a downloadable digital magazine that is available as a standard PDF file. Oh, sure, there other digital magazines that have the same file format, so we're not exactly unique in that regard. However, let's face facts; none of the other digital magazines are easy to read on a computer screen.
By contrast, Home & Project Studio has been intentionally designed from the ground up to be easily viewable on a computer screen. First, its pages are oriented in landscape mode, just like a typical computer monitor. Second, the fonts and type sizes have been chosen to make the onscreen reading experience a comfortable one. Third, the page contents are contained entirely within the computer screen, so that the reader's eyes naturally follow the text, just like they do whenever one reads a physical magazine.
What does this mean to an advertiser? Simply this: make the magazine easy to read, and people are more likely to actually read it. That also means that your ad will stand a better chance of being seen! And isn't that what you want?
HPS is an interactive magazine.
Home & Project Studio lets readers click on any ad, which connects them directly to the advertiser's web site. Readers can also access the advertiser's web site by clicking on its listing in the Ad Index. Incidentally, Home & Project Studio also contains links to manufacturers' web sites in its product reviews. All in all, it's a great way to find out more information about an advertised or reviewed product, or instantly purchase it online! This is a major feature that brings advertisers and readers together more quickly and directly.
However, we aren't content with limiting the interactive capabilities of Home & Project Studio to just accessing company web sites, as powerful as that feature may be. Plans are in development for creating a more complete interactive experience for our advertisers and readers. Contact us for more information regarding our plans for expanded interactivity.
HPS offers better than competitive advertising rates.
To put it bluntly, print magazine advertising is EXPENSIVE! And it's only going to get more expensive. However, because Home & Project Studio is a digital magazine, we have been able to eliminate high printing and mailing costs. And because we are also a freely downloadable magazine, we have eliminated a costly and marginally effective circulation bureaucracy, too. That leaves us free to pass these savings on to our advertisers and still be profitable.
All you need to do is look at our Ad Rates, which are often as low as one-tenth the rates of many print publications! What's more, the interactive nature of our magazine means that your advertising has more potential to translate into sales than even the most widely circulated printed magazine.
Since Home & Project Studio's advertising rates are so low, smaller companies that usually can't afford to advertise in more expensive print publications find that they can advertise in our magazine. They see that our ad rates fit well with their advertising budget, and that their ads stand a better chance of translating into sales due of the interactive nature of our magazine. Cheap AND effective advertisingwhat more could an advertiser ask for?
HPS does more to make sure that your ad gets seen.
Digital magazines offer other advantages most advertisers don't usually consider. For one thing, each page can be viewed as a freestanding page. Since there are no recto or verso pages in a digital magazine, advertisers don't have to worry that their ad faces another ad page!
Home & Project Studio goes one step further by ensuring that full-page run-of-book ads will not be preceded or followed by other full-page ads. Furthermore, we will work hard to make sure that even 2/3-page run-of-book ads will be paired with only editorial content on the same page. In other words, your ad won't fall into an ad well, which often happens in print publications.
How can we make these promises? Easy! As a digital magazine, Home & Project Studio doesn't have to fit its contents into predetermined press forms. For advertisers, that means we don't have to crowd ads into an advertising well just to get their ads into an issue. Instead, we can adjust an issue's size to fit the total number of pages we'll actually need to fulfill our advertising and editorial goals.

HPS has the target market advertisers seek.
Although Home & Project Studio is a new magazine, its editor and publisher Zack Price has over seventeen years of experience as a highly respected writer for various music magazines. He has also been a successful music technology consultant and lecturer for much of that same period. He knows his target audience because he has written for them and has dealt with them directly for many years.
Our target audience, like most musicians, are Internet-savvy individuals who are likely to have high-speed Internet access.
Our target audience also varies widely in age. In fact, the age of a typical Home & Project Studio reader isn't really typical anymore. Our readership is as young as 15 year-old students, and as old as 60 year-old retirees.
Why this wide variance in age? Music making is now truly a trans-generational experience. Teenagers are more sophisticated about music technology sooner, thanks to easy and affordable computer access and usage. Also, more adults are now creating or producing music, either professionally or as a serious hobby. Even new retirees (the baby boomers) are re-emerging as a significant portion of the music technology market. They have the money and the time to rediscover the joys of making music, just like they did in the '60s and '70s. And they are rapidly embracing the new music technologies!
HPS readers are consistent music technology consumers.
How much does the average Home & Project Studio reader spend on music technology? While the typical reader spends $1000-$2000 a year for music equipment, a surprising number of our readers spend several thousands of dollars regularly in equipment purchases. After all, our magazine is geared toward project studio owners as well as personal studio users. Besides, it isn't unusual for a personal studio user to own equipment normally considered to be of project or professional studio caliber.
In short, these are exactly the type of people advertisers want to reach. More importantly, though, these are the type of people who are interested in reaching the advertisers, too. And with Home & Project Studio's interactive capabilities, we can help our advertisers and readers get together more quickly and directly.
HPS is freely available to download.
We offer Home & Project Studio to our readers for free! How can we do this? Easy! The cost of publishing a digital magazine is significantly lower than producing a print publication. We don't have to pass on the high cost of printing our publication to our readers or advertisers.
Likewise, we don't mail Home & Project Studio to the reader; they just download it from our web site at their convenience. And as you might guess, the Internet is a much cheaper distribution system than old-fashioned snail mail!
What's more, offering Home & Project Studio for free allows us to rapidly expand our reader base. The greater the number of readers we capture, the larger our target audience will be for potential advertisers.
